The Wellington – Wairarapa – Horowhenua region is an extraordinary and unique part of Aotearoa. We all want to see our region thrive environmentally, socially and culturally, now and for generations to come.
Yet currently the human-induced impacts of a warming world are being felt in our backyard. To address this we need to make actionable decisions that will inform how to most effectively reduce our emissions for the benefit of our region – for today and tomorrow.
This Regional Emissions Reduction Strategy project will develop a strategic approach to transitioning to a zero-carbon region that meets our needs and aspirations.
Taking a regionally-coordinated approach, the Strategy will identify opportunities to fast track emission reductions.
All voices in the region are important when planning how we reduce carbon emissions in a targeted way – including government, iwi, sector specialists, rangatahi and community groups. The actions identified in the Strategy will be delivered by a diverse range of stakeholders.
